JEWEL BALL FOUNTAIN

This beautiful limestone fountain has a rustic feel commonly found in the architecture around Granbury; adds both architectural intrigue and tranquility to Shanley Sculpture Garden. There’s something about the sound of burbling water that lulls the mind into a meditative state. The cool mist and sounds of falling water are a welcome companion on a hot Texas day. The fountain is beautiful at night and especially when lit up during Christmas.

The fountain towers over onlookers at 8 feet tall and boasts two substantial limestone pillars with a matching limestone top. The water cascades from the top into a bed of river rock. The centerpiece is 25 feet in diameter. Water filters through the river rock and recirculates through the fountain. The lighted water feature is surrounded with 4 foot sections of limestone, about 6 inches thick. The circular walk areas surrounding the fountain follow the lay of the land. The walk area stair-steps up on one side towards Rucker Street, and down on the other towards the canal. The entire structure is about 75 feet in diameter.

Completed in April 2011. Dedicated on September 27, 2011 in honor of the late Bob Brady. Also referred to as The Brady Fountain.

Fountain design by Jackie Smith of at Absolute Accents, Inc.

DAN COATES BRONZE

Tall top boots, pants tucked in, starched shirt and a hat big enough to match his personality. Dan Coates never met a stranger. He may not remember your name but, he would not forget your face. The second time you see Dan he would make you feel like you’ve been friends forever. He was just that kind of a guy. He wanted you to feel that way too. He loved being around friends. Dan loved a gathering and could entertain a crowd.

Dan also liked horses. He liked them almost as much as he did buying horses. He also loved his Longhorn cattle and raising Buffaloes. Dan was partial to good cowboy equipment. He liked it so much he became a notable collector. Vintage Boots and Spurs - Guns, Holsters, Chaps and even old wagons adorned his hilltop ranch landscape.

The statue of Dan will show him in his working ranch gear. Some of his vintage memorabilia and some of his custom ordered regalia. From the top-one of his favorite big brimmed hats, brush cuffs circa 1900, well-worn nylon rope, Vintage chaps, custom made, Lightning C tooled Tall topped boots and a pair of collectable spurs, complete with hand tooled leather straps from a famous or notable leather smith.
